Cetatea Deva

În oraşul Deva, jud. Hunedoara, cetatea dacică Deva se distinge de la mare distanţă; în unele documente era mentionata " castrul Deva " şi în sec. al XIII-lea a fost refăcută pentru utilizare ca fortăreaţă militară. Adesea a fost asediată şi a fost distrusă de austrieci în 1848 prin explozia depozitului cu muniţie. Din 2005, accesul se poate face şi cu telecabina; singurul ascensor înclinat din Romania (lungime 278 m, 158 m, diferenţă de nivel) şi primul din Europa.
